Cops: Man Arrested, Charged After Stabbing Girlfriend Numerous Times At Tanger

Police was found after the public's help was enlisted to find the alleged suspect.

A Calverton man was arrested Sunday after police said he stabbed his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at Tanger.

Paul C. Thompson, Jr., 24, of Calverton was arrested Sunday at 8:37 p.m. in Mastic Beach and charged with assault in the second degree, a felony, grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony, petit larceny, a misdemeanor, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor, and criminal obstruction of breathing, a misdemeanor, police said. 

Earlier  Sunday, police asked for the public's help to locate Thompson, after  a  Calverton woman was allegedly stabbed by her boyfriend at Tanger Outlet Center in Riverhead, and then forced to drive him to another spot before she was able to escape Saturday night, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, a call came in at 8:15 p.m. about an injured woman, 23, on Midway Drive in Riverhead.

Police said the woman had been involved in a "domestic dispute" with her boyfriend, 24, of Calverton; he allegedly stabbed her multiple times, then forced her to drive him to Midway Drive, where she was able to escape the car and get help at a nearby home.

Riverhead EMTs responded and took the woman to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of her injuries, police said.

The suspect, police said, fled the area on foot and remains at large.
