A Riverhead man was arrested and charged with choking a woman, police said.
Southampton Town police reported that on Sept. 25, Riverhead resident Darius Mims, 22, was arrested and charged with criminal obstruction of breath, a misdemeanor, and criminal mischief in the third degree, a felony.
According to police, Mims was involved in a verbal altercation with a female victim and subsequently choked her.
Mims, police said, then broke the rear window of a rental car.
Mims was located with the assistance of the Riverhead Police Department and turned over to Southampton Town police. He was processed at Southampton Town police headquarters and held for arraignment.
