Cops: Riverhead Man Nabbed With 129 Grams of Pot

The car was stopped for speeding, police said.

A Riverhead man was busted when police stopped a speeding vehicle and found 129 grams of marijuana in the car, police said.

According to New York State Police, a man, 28, was stopped on Tuesday at 9:50 p.m. for speeding on Route 25 in Riverhead.

While interviewing the driver, troopers detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, police said.

A search of the vehicle yielded 129 grams of marijuana, which a front passenger said was his, police said. 

The passenger was charged with criminal possession of marijuana in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.
