Cops: Riverhead Man Stole 15K From His Mother

The defendant was charged with felony grand larceny, police said.

A Riverhead man was charged with stealing $15,000 -- from his own mother, police said.

According to Southampton Village Police, Richard Lee Caviness, 46, was arrested on Feb. 12 at 12:51 p.m. and charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a felony.

Police said Caviness is alleged to have stolen approximately $15,000 from his mother. He was processed, arraigned and remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverside in lieu of $2,500 bail, police said.
