Cops: Riverhead's Sex Offenders All Compliant

A sweep between U.S. Marshals, Suffolk County P.D. and various East End police departments found 55 out of 60 sex offenders were in compliance with the state's Sex Offender Registry Act; all 19 living in Riverhead were found to be compliant.

In tandem with U.S. Marshals and the Suffolk County Police Special Victims Unit, East End Police Departments recently visited five dozen convicted sex offenders at their homes, finding 55 out of the 60 were in compliance with the state's Sex Offender Registry Act.

According to Riverhead Police, all 19 sex offenders living in Riverhead were in compliance with the law, and the five who were found in violation were subsequently found and arrested by officials and are being prosecuted by the Suffolk County DA's Office.

Officials dubbed the sweep "Operation Lighthouse," and the checks were completed from July 9 through July 13.
