Cops: Search Leads to Wading River Drug, Guns Bust

The bust came after complaints from neighbors in the Wading River community, police said.

A search warrant led to a drug bust in Wading River on Wednesday, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, ongoing complaints from residents of the Wading River community led to an investigation by the East End Drug Task Force, in conjunction with the Suffolk County Emergency Services Unit, Riverhead Town C.O.P.E, and K-9 units. A search warrant was issued for 49 Overhill Road in Wading River.

Police said the search led to the recovery of quantities of marijuana packaged for sale, a quantity of cash, and weapon, including a .22-caliber semi-automatic pistol, a .22 caliber assault rifle, a "billy" club and brass knuckles.

Also recovered were scales and packaging materials, police said.

Police arrested three residents of the address, including Gregory Brewer, 55, who was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation; he was released on an appearance ticket.

James Brewer, 22, was charged with criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree. He was also released on an appearance ticket.

Justin Brewer, 19, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor; criminal possession of a firearm, a felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor; and criminal possession of marijuana in the third degree, a felony.

Justin Brewer was arraigned in Riverhead Town justice court and remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail.
