Cops: Suspect In String of Armed Robberies May Have Struck Again

Have you seen this man?

Suffolk County Police pattern crime unit detectives are investigating to see whether an armed robber they believe is responsible for a string of gunpoint hold-ups has struck again.

Police said a robbery occurred at a CVS in Lake Ronkonkoma on Thursday, when a man entered the store, located at 729 Portion Road, demanded money and displayed what appeared to be a handgun at approximately 5:20 p.m. The man fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money.

The robbery has been identified as possibly being connected to the robbery pattern that has occurred at businesses throughout Suffolk County during the past two weeks, police said — including an armed robbery at a Hess station in Calverton.

Suffolk County Police said they are also working with Southold Town police to see if the suspect could be linked to this week's armed robbery at Game Stop in Mattituck.

Police said that, during the past two weeks, a man entered eight establishments and pretended to purchase an item. When the employees opened their cash registers, the man displayed a black handgun and demanded cash. The suspect then fled the locations on foot, possibly to a vehicle waiting nearby.

The robberies have occurred at seven gas stations located in Calverton, Eastport, Mastic, North Babylon, St. James, Dix Hills and Bohemia as well as at Jamba Juice in Stony Brook. No one was injured during any of the robberies, police said.

The suspect is described as a white man, between 25 and 35 years old, approximately 5'10"  to 6"2' inches tall with a thin to medium build. He usually wears a dark-colored or gray hooded sweatshirt, police said

Detectives are asking anyone with information on these robberies or if anyone recognizes the suspect in the attached photo to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
