Cops: Unlicensed Riverhead Man Charged WIth DWI

Police stopped driver after he allegedly failed to maintain lane.

A Riverhead man was arrested in Mattituck Friday night and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.

According to Southold Town police, Mynor Avalos, 39, of Riverhead, was stopped on County Road 48 in Mattituck at 11:50 p.m. after police said he failed to stay in his lane of traffic.

The defendant was administered roadside sobriety tests and failed, police said. Avalos was arrested and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor; he was also charged for driving unlicensed, and failure to maintain lane.

He was transported to Southold Town police headquarters and held pending arraignment Saturday morning.
