Cops: Woman Caught With Heroin, Fled Scene

The woman was living at a Riverside motel, police said.

A woman living in a Riverside motel was arrested last week after police said she was caught with drugs and fled the scene on foot.

According to New York State police, the woman, 40, was arrested after she was found with heroin and needles on Sept. 10 at 9:50 p.m. and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of a hypodermic needles, a misdemeanor.

New York State Troopers were assisting Riverhead Town police with a robbery investigation when they saw the woman fleeing the area on foot, police said. She was apprehended, charged, and released on an appearance ticket; she is due back at Southampton Town Justice Court on Sept. 30.
