Riverhead detectives and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are asking the public's help in identifying and locating a woman they said stole six North Face Denali jackets from the Sports Authority store in Riverhead.
According to police, on Dec. 5, at 2:00 p.m., a woman was allegedly seen walking out of the Sports Authority store, located at 1160 Old Country Road, pushing a red shopping cart.
As she walked out, police said the security sensors that were attached to the jackets triggered an alarm. When store personnel checked the sales floor, they discovered that the six North Face Denali jackets that were on one display rack were gone. The total value of the jackets was more than $1000.
The subject is described as a short, heavy-set black female in her mid-30s, wearing red pants, a black jacket and a black hat. Surveillance video shows that she was accompanied by a black male who appears to be in his early 20s, approximately 5'5," wearing black jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt.
