Crash on Route 58 Involves Multiple Cars

Injuries sustained were not serious, police say.

Riverhead Town police responded on Thursday afternoon to a multiple car accident on Route 58 that involved a box truck and a number of vehicles and left at least three injured.

The accident, which occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Thursday involved a number of cars and closed a portion of Route 58 in the vicinity of McDonald's and the Department of Motor Vehicles for over an hour.

Police say at least three individuals were brought to Peconic Bay Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. On Thursday evening, police said the accident, while stopping traffic and involving multiple ambulances, was not serious, and the injuries were minor.
