• Southampton Town Police say they have charged at 29-year-old Selden man in connection with a bank robbery that took place at TD Bank in Hampton Bays on Sept. 10.
According to Detective Sergeant Lisa A. Costa, Donnell Thomas, 29, was found hiding out at a residence on Hawthorne Street in Mastic on Tuesday morning. He was arrested without incident and charged with robbery in the third degree, a felony.
SOUTHAMPTON
Felony DWI
• Ivan W. Leon-Vasquez, 30, of East Hampton was arrested Sept. 15 at 1:33 a.m. and charged with DWI, a felony due to the fact that he has a prior DWI, according to Suthampton Village police, as well as aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, also a felony, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree and third degree, both misdemeanors. Police said they stopped Leon-Vasquezfor running a red light and crossing the double yellow lines several times while driving a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse westbound on Hampton Road.
Reckless Driving
• Miles R. Braun, 24, of Water Mill, was arrested Sept. 16 at 2:13 a.m. on Brick Kiln Road and charged with reckless driving and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, both misdemeanors, and numerous vehicle and traffic violations, according to police. The arrest report states that Braun was speeding and crossing the double yellow line while driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty south on Main Street. When a police officer tried to pull him over, Braun ignored lights and sirens, speeding and turning without signaling multiple times and running several stop signs, the report states. When Braun finally stopped, the officer determined his license was suspended, police said. Braun was processed at police headquarters and released on $300 bail.
• A Sagaponack victim reported to Southampton Town police Sept. 12 that someone stole her $30,000 Daytona Rolex watch during a Labor Day party that she hosted at her home on Sagg Main Street.
• Robert Love, 46, of Westhampton Beach, was arrested and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, Sept. 14 on County Road 39 in Southampton at 7:38 p.m. Police said Love was involved in a motor vehicle accident during which his car struck a telephone pole, route: {:controller=>"articles", :action=>"show", :id=>"county-road-39-closed-in-both-directions-in-tuckahoe"} -->. According to police, the crash shut down the road between N. Magee Rd and Tuckahoe Lane shortly after 7 p.m.
EAST HAMPTON
• said a 63-year-old man is responsible for political graffiti that has been popping up around the village for months. On Tuesday afternoon, Lawrence G. Nickel, a boat captain from Florida who lives in East Hampton, was charged with one felony criminal mischief count and 12 misdemeanor counts of making graffiti, as well as one count of petty larceny, also a misdemeanor. "The charges stem from a four-month long investigation into a rash of graffiti throughout the village, which made derogatory references to President Obama and his policies," a statement from the village police department said.
• Jose R. Inga, 42, of East Hampton, was arrested and charged with felony driving while intoxicated, among other charges, after the car he was driving hit a utility police on Queens Lane in East Hampton on Saturday around 5:20 p.m. Police said Inga's 1998 Honda was found on the southside of Queens Road, about 100 feet west of the Accabonac Road intersection, with the pole, cut in half, toppled over on top of the car, but the driver was nowhere in sight. Police found Inga on Central Avenue, and they said he appeared intoxicated. Inga failed field sobriety tests and was transported to Southampton Hospital, where he consented to a blood test, police said. Due to his injuries, police said, they released him into hospital custody. They did not expound on what those injuries were. He will be arraigned in
