Crimes Nearby: Criminal Contempt, Reckless Driving

Miller Place-Rocky Point:

Kevin Conley, 37, of Sound Beach was arrested Aug. 1 in Sound Beach and charged with two counts of public lewdness. Reports indicate the incident occurred from his bedroom window on Gardiners Road in Sound Beach at approximately 11:15 p.m.

North Fork:

Doreen Masterson, 44, of Woodstock was charged with petit larceny on Friday at 6:35 p.m. after an employee of the Greenport retail store on Main Street called police and reported that she was following a woman she'd recognized from two days earlier who she suspected had shoplifted from the store, police said. The officer on the scene located Masterson and arrested her for shoplifting, police said.

Scott Anderson, 24, of Mattituck was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated on Monday at 1:20 a.m. after police stopped him for speeding on Route 25 in Cutchogue, police said. Anderson was found to be intoxicated and was held overnight for arraignment.
William Ronayne, 19, of Middle Village was charged with petit larceny on Sunday at 4:47 p.m. after police responded to a report of shoplifting at Handy Pantry in Mattituck, police said. Officers on the scene identified Ronayne as the suspect who allegedly attempted to leave the store with a package of frozen cookie dough without paying for it, police said. Ronayne was arrested and later released on cash bail.

Westhampton-Hampton Bays:

A 23-year-old man from Manorville almost ran his girlfriend off the road the evening of August 3, according to police.
Police said the girlfriend of Jose Umanzor of Manorville called 911 upset, saying “He’s trying to run me off the road” on the evening of August 3. When police arrived at the corner of Flanders Road and Red Creek Road in Hampton Bays at 8:42 p.m., they said they pulled Umanzor over and charged him with first degree criminal contempt, a felony, second-degree menacing, second-degree unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and reckless driving, all misdemeanors. He was also charged with second-degree harassment, a violation.

Frank Vlahadamis, 58, of Hampton Bays was issued an appearance ticket for a noise compliant on July 27 at 6:56 p.m. at Club Dream on Canal Road in Hampton Bays. Three neighbors of the club told police that they could hear loud music. Vlahadamis, when reached Tuesday, said that his club was actually closed at the time the noise complaint was issued – he was there cleaning with a power washer – and that the music was coming from a Latino party nearby. In an attempt to re-create a prank scene from the popular TV show “Glee,” two unidentified people burst into a Quogue Junior Theatre Troupe rehearsal at Quogue Hall on Jessup Avenue Sunday, police said. The duo squirted the rehearsing cast with water guns and then acted out a make-believe sword fight with rubber weapons, police said. After they fled the scene, the two pranksters broke a light, police said. Police are investigating the incident as a case of fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct and harassment, both violations.

Southampton:

Michael Connor, 51, of Selden was arrested July 28 at 2:12 p.m. by Southampton Town police at the intersection of Sunrise Highway westbound and North Road in Southampton and charged with circumventing the interlock device in his car, a misdemeanor. Police said they stopped Connor for speeding when they discovered he was not properly using the court-ordered device that monitors blood alcohol content.

Lewis Blydenburgh, 59, of Southampton was arrested Friday at 11:57 p.m. by Southampton Town police at his home on North Sea Road and charged with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony. Police said Blydenburgh got into a verbal argument with his wife, who has an order of protection against him. Blydenburgh also pushed his wife to the ground, police said.

Cleto R. Medrano, 42, of Southampton was arrested Monday at 4:07 p.m. by Southampton Village police and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, a felony. Police said he was found to be in possession of a fake Social Security card, and they later discovered he had an outstanding warrant from the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He was remanded to Suffolk County Jail in Riverside and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

East Hampton:

Paul Fiondella, who recently ran for the East Hampton School Board, was arrested on a criminal mischief charge stemming from an incident involving a restaurant near his home. In an arrest report issued on Friday, East Hampton Town police said Fiondella, 64, broke the driver's side mirror on a vehicle belonging to a patron of Bostwick's on July 31.

Dayshawn Carter, 19, of East Hampton, was charged with misdemeanor reckless driving after town police said he drove in the wrong lanes and almost caused an accident on July 30. At about 1:25 p.m., police said they saw Carter on a 1990 Honda CR-80 going west on Queens Lane, shifting into the eastbound lane several times at "an unreasonable speed." He then turned left onto Springs-Fireplace Road, traveling south in the northbound lane shoulder, "causing northbound traffic to swerve into the southbound lane to avoid a collision with the defendant," his arrest report said. He reportedly didn't stop right away for a marked police car then ditched his motorcycle and ran into a wooded area, where he was arrested. Carter was released on $100 station-house bail.

Paul J. Raffin, 56, of New York City, was arrested after he was found in someone else's car in the parking lot of Nick & Toni's in East Hampton on July 30. According to police, the car owner had just had dinner and pressed "auto start" on his car remote while he crossed the parking lot on North Main Street at 11:30 p.m. That's when he noticed Raffin in the driver's seat. As he confronted him, he jumped out and ran. The car owner followed him and called 911. Village police stopped Raffin nearby on Miller Lane and Cedar Street. Raffin denied being in anyone's car and told police, they said, that he was merely walking home because a cab company said it would be at least two hours before he could get a ride. He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and released on $100 station-house bail.

Santiago Velay, 32, of Montauk, was arrested after allegedly driving an unregistered motorcycle while drunk in Montauk on Aug. 2. Town police said they noticed Velay's Honda had a defective tail light while he was driving on Montauk Highway, east of Second House Road, at about 4:40 a.m. According to police, he was only able to produce a Florida driving license when pulled over; he had no motorcycle registration or insurance. When an officer asked him to get off his ride, he was reportedly unsteady on his feet. Town Justice Lisa R. Rana released him on $1,000 bail later that morning.
