Crimes Nearby: Homeless Sex Offender Arrested After Allegedly Failing to Register

The following information was supplied by police departments on the East End. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

Westhampton-Hampton Bays

• On Wednesday at 9:22 p.m., Westhampton Beach Police arrested Linda Jeanne Schwartz, 53, of Westhampton Beach and charged her with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police say Schwarts was spotted driving erratically eastbound on Montauk Highway. Schwartz was held overnight and is due back in court on June 6.
• On Sunday at 3:13 a.m., police charged Michael Dove, 30 of Sayville with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police say they pulled Dove over at the corner of Oak Street and Montauk Highway after he failed to maintain his lane and crossed over a double yellow line and arrested him. Dove was held overnight by Riverhead PD and is due to appear in court on June 13.
• Also on Sunday at 8:46 p.m. police charged Peter Gish, 50 of Sudbury, Mass. with reckless driving and DWI, a misdemeanor. Police say they pulled Gish over on Old Riverhead Road after they watched his passenger attempt to open the door of the car and exit while the car was in motion. Police say the driver didn’t attempt to slow the car. Gish was held on $300 bail and is due in court on June 30.

• Thomas Frangidane, 42, of Medford was charged with second-degree assault on May 26 at 6:46 p.m., after police responded to a report that Frangidane threw a glass plate at a 51-year-old Woodmere man at in Greenport, police said. The victim was taken to to be treated for his injuries. Frangidane was arrested, transported to police headquarters in Peconic and held for arraignment.

• Andrew Semon, 18, of Orient, was charged resisting arrest, unlawful possession of marijuana and underage possession of alcohol on May 26 at 3:44 p.m., after patrolling officers observed Semon walking in an apparent intoxicated condition in the Sterlington Commons parking lot in Greenport and saw him enter a parked vehicle while carrying an open container of alcohol, police said. Police discovered that Semon was under the age of 21, and further investigation found him to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana within his vehicle, police said. Semon struggled with the officers as they attempted to place him in handcuffs, police said.
• Felix Cruz Garcia, a 39-year-old homeless man, was charged with failing to register and verify his address as a sex offender on May 28 at 6:05 p.m. Cruz-Garcia was arrested on an active arrest warrant after police observed him walking on Third Street in Greenport, police said. Cruz-Garcia was wanted by Suffolk County Police for failing to verify and register his current address as a registered sex offender. He was arrested and transported to Southold Town Police headquarters in Peconic where he was processed and turned over to the Suffolk County Police Fugitive Squad.

• Corey Lieblein, 32, of Southold, was charged with driving while intoxicated on May 26 at 1:25 a.m., after police responded to a motor vehicle accident on the corner of Bayview Road and Jacobs Lane in Southold, police said. Lieblein was attempting to make a turn from Jacobs Lane onto Bayview and ran off the roadway and hit a tree, police said.

• Edward Marlatt, 60, of Mattituck, was charged with driving while impaired by drugs on May 28 at 8:54 a.m., after Marlatt hit a tree with his vehicle while driving on Route 48 in Cutchogue, police said. Marlatt crossed over the grass median, continued across both eastbound traffic lanes, left the roadway and struck a tree, police said. Marlatt was arrested for DWI drugs and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment to injuries. Marlatt was issued an appearance ticket, to be arraigned at a later date.

• David S. Heaney, 20, of Greenport, was charged with DWI on May 27 at 7:58 p.m., after he was stopped for several traffic offenses on Bay Avenue in Greenport and was found to be intoxicated, police said. Heaney was arrested and transported to headquarters to be processed and was held overnight for arraignment.
