Crimes Nearby: North Haven Village Mayor Arrested, Charged with DWI

In other news, a Southampton woman was arrested on charges of felony DWI for allegedly violating Leandra's Law, and a registered sex offender was arrested and charged with failure to report his address to authorities.

• Quogue police say that on April 8 at 4:30 a.m. a 30-year-old Westhampton Beach man led them on a short pursuit from County Route 104 to Old Country Road.
According to police, Boanerge Martin-Reyes fled because he had a prior felony aggravated unlicensed charge. After Martin-Reyes stopped, he was given eight summons by police, including fleeing from police, unsafe lane change, and speeding.  He was released on $1,000 cash bail.

• Cresencio Encarnacion-Peralta, 31, of Hampton Bays, was arrested at 9:38 p.m. April 6 on Montauk Highway West in Hampton Bays. Encarnacio-Peralta was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, in addition to three moving violations and breaking the open container law. Police said Encarnacio-Peralta was being sought by U.S. immigration officials on an active deportation warrant. At his arraignment April 7, town police turned the custody of Encarnacion-Peralta over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

• James Reid, 31, of Southampton, was arrested in Hampton Bays April 5 on Old Riverhead Road West at 5:04 p.m., according to police. He was charged with failure to report his address to authorities as a sex offender under Megan's Law, a felony, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle in the second degree, a misdemeanor, and driving an unregistered vehicle, a violation, police said.

Southampton:  

• North Haven Village Mayor Laura M. Nolan was following an accident in Sag Harbor Village on Friday afternoon. Detective Jeffrey Proctor was on patrol when he saw Nolan's Mercedes hit the back of a Corvette at the stop sign on Bay Street, near the intersection of Main Street, he said. "She couldn't have been going anymore than 3 miles per hour, but the fiberglass on the back of the Corvette cracked," said Proctor, who was driving in front of the Corner Bar at the time. He instructed both drivers to turn onto the so he could take an accident report. That's when he realized Nolan was intoxicated — he could smell alcohol on her breath and she had a hard time producing documentation, he said. She was so intoxicated, he said, that he did not perform any field sobriety tests. At headquarters, she submitted to a test. He declined to release the blood alcohol level. However, given she was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, her blood alcohol level must have been above .18.

• after she was pulled over for speeding on Long View Road in Shinnecock Hills at 4:20 p.m. according to police.
said 33-year-old Pascuala Ascencion-Ortiz was traveling 62 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone and was driving a 1999 Chevy Malibu in an intoxicated condition with her 5-year-old daughter unrestrained in the back seat of the vehicle. She was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, a felony, endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and five traffic violations including speeding, moving unsafely from a traffic lane, failure to wear a seat belt, unlicensed operation of a vehicle and failure to use a designated lane. Ascencion-Ortiz was additionally charged with false personation for providing police with a fake name, a class-B misdemeanor, according to the arrest report.

• James Reid, 31, of Southampton, a registered sex offender, was arrested on April 5 at 5:04 p.m., according to police. He was charged with failure to report his address to authorities under Megan's Law, a felony, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle in the second degree, a misdemeanor, and driving an unregistered vehicle, a violation, police said.

• Joseph Toto, 60, of East Hampton, was arrested April 4 on Noyac Road in Noyac at 11:47 p.m. and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree, a class-A misdemeanor, according to police. Police said they stopped Toto's vehicle for insufficient lights and found a quantity of marijuana in the car.

• A Southampton woman reported that she was assaulted April 1 by a man who jumped out of his car while she was walking on Longview Road in Shinnecock Hills. The victim said the man struck her in the face several times after she refused to answer his questions. According to the report, the assailant threw the victim on the ground, then returned to the vehicle and left the area in an unknown direction. The woman suffered facial injuries along with abrasions to her hand and arm. She was transported to.
