Police said a resident called after seeing a man dressed in a black, fur-trimmed coat jump over a neighbor's fence and enter the backyard of the property. Next, the suspect walked to the back door of the house, checked to see if it was locked, which it was, and hopped back over the fence.

The suspect left the scene on a bicycle; after getting a description, police located the man on Third Street. The neighbor identified the suspect, police said, and the owner of the home where the trespassing occurred pressed charges. The man, a Greenport resident, 33, was charged with criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, processed and released on bail for a later court date.
