Crimes Nearby: Televisions Stolen from Atlantic Hotel

North Fork:

Janessa Andruski, 29, of Southold, was charged with driving while impaired by drugs and possession of a controlled substance on Nov. 12 at 7:27 p.m., after Southold Town Police stopped her for a traffic violation on Route 25 in Cutchogue, police said. After investigation, she was found to be impaired by drugs, was arrested, and during processing at headquarters, she was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Stephen Latson, 63, of Southold, was charged with driving while intoxicated on Nov. 14 at 7:07 p.m. after police stopped him for a traffic violation on Travelers Street in Southold, police said. After investigation, Latson was found to be intoxicated, was arrested and transported to headquarters in Peconic, where he was held overnight pending arraignment.

Matthew Larson, 23, of Southold, was rescued from the chilly waters of Southold Bay after he was thrown overboard while testing a new motor on his small boat shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 near in Southold, police said. Members of the, and responded to the scene.

Larson had been in the water for about 10 minutes before a passing boater picked him up and took him to Founders Landing, where he was treated and released by members of the Southold Fire Department Rescue Squad, police said.

Chief Martin Flatley identified the driver who hit a brick wall of building on Nov. 15 as Eileen Kiski, 76, of Greenport.

Kiski crashed her 2002 Hyundai into the bank at 10:18 a.m. after she hit the gas in an attempt to leave a parking space, thinking that the car was in reverse, Flatley said. The car lurched forward instead, jumped the curb and hit the building, he said.

Kiski, who said she did not remember what happened, was taken to for a check-up but did not suffer injuries, nor did any passersby or patrons of the bank, Flatley said.

East Hampton:

Westhampton-Hampton Bays: 

Jose Tzoy, 29, of Westhampton Beach, was arrested Nov. 12 at 9:52 p.m. at the corner of Montauk Highway and Quarter Court in Westhampton and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Tzoy was in a single-car accident on Montauk Highway, and when police arrived on the scene, he was so intoxicated he was lying on the lawn, unable to stand, according to police. Tzoy was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment and then to headquarters for processing.

Justin Hirsch, 26, of East Patchogue, was arrested Nov. 12 at 1:34 a.m. at the corner of Squiretown Road and Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays and charged with DWI and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors. Hirsch was stopped for a traffic violation near the intersection of Squiretown Road and Montauk Highway when police discovered he appeared intoxicated. Police also saw that Hirsch’s license had been suspended for a DWI conviction in 2007.

Michael Moncada, 20, of Farmingdale, was arrested on Nov. 9 at 5:39 p.m. at police headquarters in Hampton Bays and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. After an investigation, police discovered that Moncada stole a $369 bicycle from a home on Rampasture Road on Nov. 6 at 6 p.m., according to documentation. Moncada turned himself in, according to reports.

Maria Peralta, 50, of Hampton Bays, was arrested on Nov. 12 at 1:36 p.m. at the department store on Montauk Highway East in Hampton Bays and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. Macy’s loss prevention association said they saw Peralta steal $282 worth of children’s clothing, according to police.

Southampton:  

Following reports of between Oct. 24 and Oct. 25, employees at the Route 27 hotel said

Police reports stated that the most recent incident came between 4:00 p.m. Nov. 3 and 8:00 a.m. on Nov. 4.

An employee at the hotel said she believes the thief could be someone previously employed by the hotel, who was released after the summer season. She said there are no signs of forced entry, and the individual could still have keys to the deadbolts.

Southampton Town police arrested a 39-year-old Water Mill woman after they said she stole almost $8,000 from two acquaintances.

Police learned that in August that Joanna Steidle stole $4,250 cash from an acquaintance of hers who lives on Bayview Drive West in North Sea, said according to Det. Sgt. Lisa Costa. The following month, Costa said Steidle stole $3,000 cash from someone she knew who lives on Parkway Drive in Noyack.

Officers charged Steidle with two counts of second degree burglary, a felony, at police headquarters on Saturday shortly before 9:00 a.m.
