UPDATED: Cops Reportedly Find Loaded Gun in Bathroom

Two River Pointe Apartment residents were arrested on felony gun charges Monday night after police reportedly found a loaded assault weapon hidden in their bathroom.

Updates 1:10 a.m.: Riverhead Police arrested two residents of the River Pointe Apartment complex on felony gun charges Monday night after cops reported finding a loaded Tec-9 assault weapon in the suspects' bathroom.

According to Riverhead Police, reports of a large fight in front of the H building in the complex came in around 6:15 p.m. After police responded, they said they received several reports of a person who was holding a gun.

Upon further investigation, police said the apartment belonging to Shorne T. Brown, 34, and Deja S. Daniels, 31, contained a loaded gun in the bathroom, hidden.

Brown was arrested on charges of criminal possesison in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, menacing, and endangering the welfare of a child. Daniels was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and endangering the welfare of a child.

Both were transported to police headquarters, processed and held for arraignment.

Original story: Riverhead Town police responded Monday evening to the scene of an alleged dispute on East Main Street and Prospect Place. According to police, several officers and the community oriented police enforcement unit (COPE) were at the scene.

According to eyewitnesses, a large crowd gathered at the scene, with some screaming and other residents running. At least one individual was reportedly arrested.

Police were on the scene for approximately an hour.
