Driver Flips Car; Charged With DWI

Police say woman was headed into Riverhead off the Long Island Expressway.

A woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after she veered off the road and rolled over, down an embankment, in Riverhead on Tuesday.

According to Riverhead Town police, Port Jefferson resident Gloria Neumair, 23, was driving her 2006 Kia eastbound on the Long Island Expressway at Exit 73 at approximately 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. Police say there is a sharp turn at that location and Neumair ran off the roadway and went down the embankment in a rollover accident.

Neumair was arrested at the scene and charged with misdemeanor DWI. She was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corp members, treated, and released later on Tuesday. Neumair then went back to Riverhead Town police headquarters for processing and was later arraigned.
