Driver Identified in Baiting Hollow Accident

No charges were filed in Sound Avenue accident.

Riverhead Town Police have identified the driver of a car that crashed into a telephone pole on Sound Avenue on Saturday afternoon, closing the roadway for a short time.

Roberto Carlos was driving on Sound Avenue at approximately 4:32 p.m. when he collided with a utility pole, police said.

Power lines were down after the accident, police added. The Long Island Power Authority responded to the scene to secure the wires. The accident shut down Sound Avenue between Twomey and Osborn Avenues for approximately half an hour as LIPA crews worked to secure the wires.

An ambulance responded to the scene; at least one individual was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment.

No charges were filed. No additional information about the accident was immediately available.
