Duo Arrested on Drug Charges While Driving Down Route 24

Police arrested a Riverhead and Baiting Hollow man Monday night.

A Riverhead and Baiting Hollow man were arrested on Monday night after Southampton Police said they were stopped while driving on Route 24 under the influence of, and with criminal possession of, drugs.

According to reports, Gregory Koplinka, 25, of Riverhead, was stopped for speeding while at 11 p.m. driving in Flanders, and while being interviewed police, was allegedly witnessed to be under the influence of marijuana. He was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, and cited for unlawful possession of marijuana and traffic violations.

Philip Liquori, 24, of Baiting Hollow, was charged with criminal possession of marijuana in the fifth degree.

Koplinka was held overnight and Liquori was released on an appearance ticket.
