New Vision for Former Parrish Looks to Past

To update 25 Jobs Lane — the site that housed the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton Village for a century — architects plan to turn back the clock on the building first.

Knowing for a couple years that the Parrish was headed for a new facility in Water Mill, Southampton Village has been working on a new use for the village-owned building that will keep it active year-round and serve as an attraction to downtown and the business district.

Facing Bad Reviews, Theater Shuts Curtain On Outdoor 4th of July Concert

After several businesses owners stepped forward to voice opposition to a plan to close Main Street to motorists on the 4th of July for an evening, outdoor concert, the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center pulled the plug.

On Thursday, the center officially withdrew its application to the Village of Westhampton Beach for the closure of Main Street so an outdoor stage could be set up for the concert.

Cops: Gun-Wielding Robber Took 'Several Thousands' From IGA Employee

Detectives are probing an armed robbery that they said took place in the parking lot behind the East Hampton IGA on Saturday.

An employee was walking to his car in the lot on Collins Avenue after closing the grocery store when he was approached by a man brandishing a handgun, Detective Lt. Chris Anderson said on Monday.

A black male with a Jamaican accent, short in stature, and believed to be in his 20s, approached him near his vehicle and demanded the money from the employee was carrying. After a brief struggle, "the suspect fled with a money bag" to a car that was parked on Accabonac Road, Anderson said, adding that the proceeds were estimated as "several thousand dollars." Police were contacted at 10:18 p.m.
