Ex-Riverhead Football Star Sentenced to Prison for Burglaries
Former Blue Waves linebacker Malcolm Cater will serve one to three years in prison for a series of burglaries last November
Former Riverhead football star Malcolm Cater was sentenced to one to three years in prison Tuesday after he was found guilty of a series of burglaries in Syracuse, N.Y. while attending Syracuse University, according to a video from the Syracuse Post-Standard.
Cater, a Riverhead-native, was and was charged with stealing property from three apartments last December. Cater, a member of the SU football team, was suspended after the charges were filed. He pleaded guilty to three counts of third-degree burglary, according to the Post-Standard's story.
"I just want to apologize to Syracuse University and everyone that believed in me," Cater told County Judge William Walsh.
