Fire Department Stops Shed Fire From Spreading

Vacant shed fire on Raynor Avenue suspected to be started by squatters.

The Riverhead Fire Department responded to a vacant shed fire on Raynor Avenue Monday morning, stopping the fire from spreading to an abutting property. 

No injuries were reported.

Traffic was re-routed on Pulaski Street and Raynor Avenue was closed in between West Main Street and Pulaski.

No determination of the cause of the fire had been made as of Monday morning, though First Assistant Chief Tony White suspected that squatters had started the fire.
