Fire District Commissioner Elections Set for Tuesday Night

On Tuesday night, community members are being asked to vote in their respective fire district commissioner elections. In the area there are two contested races.
The following is a round-up of local fire district races.
Riverhead
Running in the contested Riverhead Fire Department commissioner race is incumbent Dennis Hamill against challenger Kevin Barty for a five-year seat. Voting will take place at the firehouse, located at 540 Roanoke Avenue from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Jamesport
The Jamport Fire Department commissioner race is contested with two vying for the five year seat. Running is incumbent Joel Lazarus against challenger John Newman. Voting will take place at the firehouse, located at 25 Manor Ln., Jamesport, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Wading River
The Wading River Fire Department commissioner race is uncontested with Tim Deveny running for the five-year seat. Voting will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the firehouse, located at 1503 North Country Road.
Flanders
The Flanders Fire Department is uncontested with incumbent Robert Merker seeking re-election for a five-year seat. Voting will take place at the firehouse, located at 1049 Flanders Road from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
