Flanders Man Charged With Disorderly Conduct After Obstructing Traffic

Police say drivers had to swerve to avoid hitting him on Route 24.

Southampton Town Police arrested Juan Lorenzo, 26, of Flanders on Saturday at 6:42 p.m. on Flanders Road and Pleasure Drive in Flanders and charged him with disorderly conduct, a violation.

Police said Lorenzo was observed to be in a highly intoxicated condition, obstructing vehicular traffic by repeatedly walking in the northbound lane of Flanders Road, causing oncoming traffic to swerve to avoid from hitting him.

Lorenzo also had an outstanding bench warrant out of Southampton Town Justice Court stemming from a charge of unlawful possession of marijuana, occurring on Oct. 10, 2009, police said.

Also arrested on Saturday in Flanders by Southampton Town Police was Rodney J. Brooks, 25, of Riverhead.

According to police, Brooks was arrested at 5:21 p.m. on Flanders Boulevard in Flanders and charged with having two outstanding bench warrants issued by Southampton Town Justice Court. The warrants stemmed from two unrelated charges, one for drving while ability impaired by drugs on May 2, 2009. The second charge was for harassment in the second degree on Sept. 26, 2011.
