Flanders Man Charged With Driving Drunk With 8-Year-Old In Car

Police stopped driver on Flanders Road.

A Flanders man was charged with driving while intoxicated with an eight-year-old child in the car early Tuesday morning.

According to Southampton Town Police, on Tuesday at approximately 12:10 a.m., Flanders resident Cristobal Espinoza, 32, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated Leandra's Law, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Police said Espinoza was observed traveling on Flanders Road in Flanders failing to maintain his traffic lane; he was stopped at Flanders Road at Pleasure Drive by police, and, during the investigation it was found that Espinoza was operating in an intoxicated condition with an eight-year-old child in the rear seat, police said.

The child was returned to his mother and Espinoza was transported to Southampton Town Police headquarters for processing and held for a morning arraignment.
