Cops: Man Hit Flanders Teen Riding Bike, Fled

The motorist who allegedly struck the teen fled the scene and was later arrested at the Flanders McDonald's.

A 16-year-old from Flanders who was riding his bicycle on Friday night was struck by a motorist who allegedly fled the scene.

Riverhead Town Police reported that at approximately 10:35 p.m. Friday evening, a Flanders teen riding his bicycle on the Route 105 bridge was struck in the southbound lane.

Upon their arrival, Riverhead Town Police reported finding the injured boy.

New York State Police later found the operator of the vehicle that allegedly left the scene, Babylon resident Timothy Corcoran, 43, parked at McDonald's on Flanders Road.

Corcoran was arrested and transported to the Riverhead Town Police Department, where he was held on charges of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. The vehicle was impounded as evidence.
