Incident Report: Guns Reported Stolen
The following information was supplied by the Riverhead Town Police Department.
A resident on Shade Tree Lane in Aquebogue reported that sometime between August and Jan. 13 a shotgun was stolen from his house. The person said he had not looked for the gun since August, and that his son had some friends over in August while he was away camping, and could have been removed then. He said the locked case which the gun was in did not appear to be tampered with. The Remington 870 20-gauge was valued at $350.
On Jan. 14, an East Main Street resident told police that he susected his roommate stole a .22-caliber rifle from the back seat of his car. According to reports, the man said his roommate had wanted to purchase the gun from him, but he wouldn't sell it to him. He suspected that it was taken over two weeks ago, but wasn't sure of the exact date. He valued the gun and the black carrying case it was in at around $270.
