Jamesport Postmaster Arrested

The Riverhead Town Police assisted The United States Postal Service in an investigation which led to the arrest of the of the Inspector General of the Jamesport Post Office.

According to Riverhead Local, Jamesport postmaster Marie Puccio, 52, is accused of falsifying her time sheet and stealing $60 in petty cash over a period of time, said Riverhead Police Det. David Freeborn. 

The alleged false time sheet entries totaled $1,935 in wages, Det. Freeborn said.  Puccio, a 30-year employee at the Jamesport Post Office, is facing one count of grand larceny in the fourth degree, one count of petit larceny, one count of falsifying business records in the second degree and one count of official misconduct, according to a police press release.

She was arraigned in Riverhead Town Justice Court and released without bail with a future court date next month.
