Jogger Dies After Being Struck By Car

No charges have been filed against driver, 17.

A Manorville woman died after she was hit by a car while jogging on Tuesday morning.

According to Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives, an investigation is ongoing regarding a motor vehicle crash that killed Ruby Schwartz, 43, of Manorville.

The 17-year-old driver was in a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier heading south on Chapman Boulevard when his vehicle swerved to the right and struck Schwartz, who was jogging northbound at 7:35 a.m., police said.

Schwartz was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver was uninjured.

Police said no charges were filed; the vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
