Mattituck Man Airlifted Following Sound Avenue Crash
Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash on Sound Avenue that occurred early Friday night.
A Mattituck man remains in serious condition after he was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center following a car crash on Sound Avenue early Friday morning.
According to , Jared Smith, 29, lost control of a 2001 Chevrolet while driving on Sound Avenue in the vicinity of Church Lane. Police responded around 2 a.m. and found that Smith had struck a tree.
He was airlifted via Suffolk County Police Department helicopter.

Police said there were no witnesses, so the crash remains under investigation until they can speak with Smith.
"We're waiting to hear from the hospital," said Det. David Freeborn.
