Men From Flanders, Riverside Charged With Stealing Engine Block

The item was valued at $500.

Southampton Town police arrested two men and charged them with stealing an engine block worth $500 from a Hampton Bays auto repair shop.

According to police, the incident occurred in the early morning hours, before the shop opened, when two male subjects allegedly used an engine hoist to load the engine block into the back of a pick-up truck and drove away. Police believe the engine block was later sold for scrap metal.

On Friday, Southampton Town police arrested Bruce Hale, 62, of Riverside and charged him with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned and held on $300 bail. On Saturday, Bruce Holland, 65, of Flanders, was arrested by Southampton Town Police and also charged with petit larceny. He was brought to police headquarters for arrest processing and released on an appearance ticket for arraignment at a later date.
