Photo: College Students Mourn Demitri Hampton

Suffok County Community College has dedicated its yearly Black History display in his memory.

Friends, family, teachers and fellow students continue to mourn Demitri Hampton.

At Suffolk County Community College, where Hampton was a student, a display has been set up, with a photo of Hampton, announcing that this year's Black History display is presented in his honor and memory.

Hampton, 21, was shot and killed during an armed invasion at his Flanders home early Sunday morning. His family and friends have come together in an outpouring of grief.

On Monday, police said it is possible Hampton was just an innocent bystander when two armed gunmen broke down the door; Hampton died after an altercation. The investigation is ongoing.

Funeral services will be held Saturday.
