Trainees were congratulated by town staff.

Surrounded by their families, five new police recruits, hired by Riverhead Town last month, were sworn in at Tuesday night's town board meeting.

Riverhead Town Supervisor Sean Walter, along with Police Chief David Hegermiller and Police Benevolent Association President Dixon Palmer, were onhand to congratulate new recruits Sean Evans, Daniel Hogan, Patryk Loszewski, David Von Voigt, and Christopher Burns.

"This is a rather wonderful occasion," Walter said. "Congratulatios to all of you. It is my pleasure to swear you in."

Four of the five recruits are attending the police academy; one was already a police officer.

Lisa - is there any way to post on the main page? That would be a big help. Thank you.
