Police: Burglary Reported at Riverside Storage Units
Police said they collected clipped locks from the scene of the alleged break-in.
Southampton Town Police are investigating a burglary at Peconic Mini Storage in Riverside after $2,900 worth of landscaping tools were allegedly stolen.
A 45-year-old landscaper from West Babylon discovered that weed whackers, backpack blowers, power rakes and hedge trimmers were missing from his storage unit at in Riverside on Monday, September 19 at around 2:30 p.m, according to a police report. The manager of the Flanders Road storage facility, a 69-year-old woman from Riverhead, told the landscaper that the lock on his unit was broken, police said.
The manager called police on Friday and said she discovered locks had been broken on two other units at Peconic. The woman told police she was looking into installing a surveillance system at the business, and police have stationed extra patrols near the storage units.
