Police: Calverton Man Arrested for Flanders Assault
The victim was allegedly hit with a metal pole on Sept. 27; police are still investigating to find an alleged second suspect.
Southampton Town Police arrested a 20-year-old Calverton man on Sept. 28 and charged him with assault after he and another unknown suspect allegedly attacked another man in Flanders.
Police arrested Calvin Brown for second-degree assault, a felony, after an investigation into the incident on Sept. 27, according to a police report.
Officers responded to a 911 call that day after a reported fight on Wood Road Trail at about 9:48 p.m., police said. The victim told police that two men hit him on the head with a metal pole while he was walking home on Flanders Road, according to a report of the incident. The victim told police the attackers took his black leather wallet, a Guatemala ID card and $250 cash, according to a police report. The victim then ran toward Wood Road Trail, where he was later found by police.

The Flanders-Northampton Volunteer Ambulance transported the man to Peconic Bay Medical Center, according to police. An update on his condition was unavailable.
Brown was remanded to the Suffolk County Jail in Riverhead on Wednesday. Detectives said they are still investigating the incident and are searching for the other alleged attacker.
