Police: DWI Arrest After Repeat Offender Hits 2 Parked Cars

A Riverhead man was charged with misdemeanor DWI after trying to flee the scene in Riverside.

A Riverhead man with a prior DWI conviction was arrested and charged with drunk driving after he allegedly struck two vehicles parked in a Riverside lot and tried to flee the scene.

Police said they responded to reports from onlookers who said they saw Thomas Calhoun, 41, hit two vehicles in the parking lot. Officers stopped Calhoun after he tried to leave the scene around 11 p.m., according to a police report. An investigation revealed he was driving drunk, police said.

Calhoun was arrested and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, and infractions for leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a seatbelt. His vehicle was impounded due to a prior DWI conviction, police said. Calhoun was held for morning arraignment.
