Police: Flanders Man Steals Tires, Held By Residents Until Police Arrive

The 48-year-old man was charged with petty larceny

A Flanders man was arrested Saturday night after he allegedly stole two tires from a Riverside home, was caught by the home's residents and held until Southampton Town Police arrived, according to a police report of the incident.

Gregory Powell, 48, of Flanders was caught stealing two used-car rims with tires on them from a Flanders Road residence at about 7 p.m. on Dec. 17, according to a police report. He was held by residents until police arrived on the scene and arrested Powell, police said.

Powell was charged with one count of petty larceny, a misdemeanor. He was processed at Southampton Police Headquarters and released on an appearance ticket with a future court date, police said.
