Police Identify Suspects Charged in CVS Armed Robbery

All three men were charged with felonies, police said.

Police have identified three men in the alleged robbery Wednesday of a CVS in Riverhead.

According to Riverhead police, Lavon Dawson, 17, of Riverhead, Ishawn Jackson, 16, of Calverton, and Jhmil Dawson, 26, of Coram were arrested and charged with attempted robbery in the first degree, a felony. Dawson was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a felony.

Police said they responded to CVS at 7 a.m., where two men had reportedly entered the store with a pistol.

The two store employees were able to flee the store after being approached by the  men; they were able to set off a store alarm, police said.

The suspects fled the scene without any money or other proceeds being taken.

They were located nearby; earlier, police had said they were located in a farm field, one suspect lying on the ground.

Dawson had entered the store before the other two suspects to check on the number of people inside, police said.

All three were held by Riverhead police pending arraignment.

Wednesday was the second time this year the store was robbed at gunpoint: Two masked, armed robbers held up a Riverhead CVS in January, police said.

Riverhead police responded to a report of a that robbery at 3:37 a.m., at the CVS located at 1140 Old Country Road.

According to police, responding units were told by employees that two male suspects entered the store, one displaying an unknown type of handgun, demanding cash.

The two suspects allegedly forced an employee to open the store safe and then fled on foot in a westerly direction with an undetemined amount of money. 

The two suspects were described as wearing hooded sweatshirts, masks and gloves.
