UPDATE: Wading River Man Dies In Fatal Calverton Crash

Police have identified the name of the victim

Update: 4:00 p.m.: A Wading River man lost his life in a tragic Calverton car crash Friday morning.

According to Riverhead Town Police, Joseph Amodemo, Jr., 66, of Wading River, died after a car accident at the intersection of Route 25 and Route 25A in Calverton that occurred at 10 a.m. on Friday.

Police said Amodemo, who was driving a 2011 Honda Accord, was struck by a 1995 GMC Yukon operated by Meghan Campbell, 20, of Shoreham.

Amodemo Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.

Campbell was transported by Wading River Fire Department Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Her passenger, Chris Zullo, 25, of Riverhead, was airlifted by Suffolk County Police Department helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of head injuries.

No charges were filed.

Police are asking that anyone with information about th e accident call the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500 ext. 332.

Original story: Riverhead Town Police are on the scene of an accident on Middle Country Road and Route 25A in Calverton in which at least one individual lost their life.

Police said the accident, which occurred at 10:02 a.m. Friday, was likely a T-bone collision that left one individual, believed to be a male, dead.

Although helicopters were sent to the scene, police said they left without a victim because at least one driver died at the scene.
