Police: Level 3 Sex Offender Failed to Report Address Change

Benjamin Griffin, 55, allegedly came into police headquarters with marijuana on him.

A convicted level-three sex offender was recently arrested on felony charges for failing to report a change in his home address after he came into a police station, for a required check-in, with marijuana on him, according to police.

Southampton Police said 55-year old Riverside resident Benjamin Griffin came into police headquarters last Thursday for a required check-in. His listed address was reportedly the Riverside homeless sex offender trailers, though police said he had not lived there since April.

He was arrested on charges of failure to register change of address on the sex offender registry, and issued a violation for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Griffin was convicted of two counts of first degree rape and first degree sexual assault on May 2, 1983. He was sentenced to 13.5 to 27 years in prison.
