Police: Man Killed In E. Patchogue Crash (Update)

Collision took place at the intersection of Conklin Avenue and East Main Street.

Update: Feb. 19, 10:59 a.m.: Suffolk County Police identified Jose Fuentes, 39, of East Patchogue as the man killed Sunday night. Original story below:

An unidentified man was killed Sunday night in a car crash in East Patchogue, said Suffolk County Police.

Police said the man was crossing East Main Street at the intersection of Conklin Avenue at around 8 p.m. when he was struck by a white 2005 Nissan Maxima that was traveling eastbound on East Main Street.

The North Patchogue Fire Department took the man to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the car's driver, Jeremiah Day, 25 of Wyandanch, was not injured.

The car was impounded for a safety check.

The incident is still under investigation by detectives. Anyone with information on the incident is being asked by SCPD to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.

Wehn are they going to do something about easty main st. Last month another person was kit by a car...WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR....

Please put a traffic light at E. Main and Case Ave. it's the only intersection on all of Main St. Without a light.

Nissan was speeding in the center lane when he hit the pedestrian. Spoke to eyewitness of that accident. He was behind the Nissan. The driver should be charged with reckless driving and manslaughter
