Police: Man Stole Food, Toys, Clothes, Kitchen Ware from K-Mart

The following information was supplied by the Riverhead Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

Benjamin Gilliam, 50, of Riverhead, was arrested on Feb. 8 on petit larceny charges. Accoring to police reports, Gilliam stole $298 in groceries from on Route 58. Reports state that Gilliam was caught by store security cameras concealing merchandise. He was placed under arrest on a civilian complaint, transported to police headquarters, processed, and held for arraignment.

James McErlean was arrested on criminal contempt charges on Feb. 11. According to reports, McErlean, 54, of East Hampton was parked in front of a home on Peconic Bay Boulevard in violation of a court order. He was transported to headquarters, processed and held for arraignment.

Luz Gutierrez, 32, of Riverhead, was arrested on petit larceny charges on Jan. 11. Police reports state that Gutierrez removed children's toys, food, beverages, kitchen ware, and clothes from without paying for them. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, released on $200 bail and given a desk appearance ticket.
