Police Nab Suspects for Drugs, DWI

The following information was supplied by the Riverhead Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

Candice A. Hughes, 21, of Riverhead , was arrested on May 16 at 10:44 p.m. on West Main Street in Riverhead and charged with posession of marijuana. Police said after approaching the vehicle, the smell of burnt marijuana emanated from the car; a small amount of marijuana was allegedly seen beneath the seat and the door jam. When an officer went to look for identifcation in Ms. Hughes' purse, a small amount of marijuana was also allegedly found and, upon further investigation, police said a small amount was also found in the center console.

Jose L. Andino Rodriguez, of Riverhead, was arrested on Nadel Drive on May 16 at approximately 5:04 p.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense. When police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident, they arrested Andino Rodriguez and charged him with DWI. He was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center to be medically cleared, then was transported to police headquarters and held for arraigment. Police say assorted beer cans were submitted as evidence.

Justin B. Ligon, of Flanders, was arrested on May 16 at approximately 5:21 p.m. on Griffing Avenue; Suffolk County Police had a warrant for his arrest for alleged criminal contempt in the first degree.
