Police Report: Burglary, Fireworks

Editor's Note: The following information was supplied by the Riverhead Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

Timoteo Aguilon-Lopez, 26, of Riverhead, was arrested on charges of fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana on July 5. Police said an officer on bike patrol noticed Aguilon-Lopez sitting on a bench in Grangebel Park smoking. After identifying the smell of marijuana, the police officer approached Aguilon-Lopez and reportedly found five micro-zip bags containing what appeared to be marijuana. He was processed and released on $250 bail.

Wesley Simchick Jr., 36, of Riverhead, was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on June 27. Simchick was allegedly found in Grangebel Park with a small bag containing what appeared to be marijuana as well as a glass jar containing yellowish liquid. Simchick was processed and released on $100 bail.

Police responded to a burglary at on June 29, and found that over $2000 worth of property was stolen. Upon arriving, police found the back metal door had been broken, and that the security system had been disabled. The thief or thieves then stole a computer, alcohol, cigarettes and $1800 in cash from the store. No arrests have been made in the incident, though police are looking at nearby surveillance footage to determine a suspect.

There were 27 separate reports of fireworks on the weekend of July 4. Police investigated and no arrests were made.
