Police Report: Statutory Rape, Reckless Driving

A list of recent crime activity as reported by the Riverhead Police Department.

Quayshawn Kelly, 19, of Riverhead, was arrested on Feb. 10 on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, unlawful fleeing, reckless driving, and on a Suffolk County Police Department warrant. According to police reports he was also given several vehicle and traffic violations after he was seen driving at a recklessley high rate of speed. He was processed and held for arraignment.

Elba Laboy, 28, of Riverhead, was arrested on Feb. 11 on petit larceny charges. Police reports state that Laboy allegedly removed $77 of miscellaneous items from Target Route 58. She was transported to headquarters for processing and released on $100 bail and a desk appearance ticket.

David Jefferson, 40, of Riverhead, was arrested following a domestic incident on Feb. 11. According to reports, Jefferson's common law wife reported that she was struck by Jefferson during a dispute. He was arrested, transported to headquarters, and held for arraignment.

A juvenile from Aquebogue was arrested on Feb. 12 on charges of criminal mischief in the third degree. Police reports state an incident occurred at American Gas on Route 25 in Jamesport. She was processed and held for morning arraignment.

Julian Suruy, 23 of Aquebogue, was arrested and charged on Feb. 14 on charges of third degree rape and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. According to police reports, Riverhead Police responded to a domestic incident to find the father of a 16-year old girl in her bedroom, while Suruy was naked. Reports state all parties were transported to police headquarters. After everyone gave their statements, the teenage girl and her father were transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center while a rape kit was collected. Suruy was arrested and charged with the stated crimes. He was processed and held pending arraignment.

None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime, but were arrested for the charges listed above. They are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
