Police Respond to Bomb Scare at Target; Deemed Safe

Suspicious package in parking lot was moved from store to outside.

Riverhead Police and Suffolk County Police Emergency Services responded to a bomb scare Tuesday afternoon at Target on Route 58, though the "report of a suspicious device" turned out not to be a threat, according to police.

Police received a call regarding a suspicious device around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, which had been placed inside the store. According to police, the device was moved outside prior to police arrival.

It was examined by EMS and deemed safe.
