Police: Stolen Packages Found During Investigation Remain Unclaimed

With arrests made in Riverhead robbery spree of holiday packages left on porches, Southold Town Police search for suspects in similar incidents on the North Fork.

After two Mattituck women were arrested on Tuesday on charges of stealing delivered packages off the porches of Aquebogue residents earlier this month, Southold Town Police announced on Wednesday that arrests for two suspects on similar incidents are pending in Southold.

As of Wedneday, Southold Police have received seven reports of missing packages, and many of those reported items have been recovered during the recent investigation of Aquebogue case. During the course of the investigation, police have also discovered many stolen items which have not yet been reported stolen, police said.

Police are currently trying to locate the rightful owners of the property, much of which are apparently holiday gifts. Anyone who suspects they might be missing items are encouraged to call the Southold Town Police Detective Division at 631-765-2600.
