Police: Woman Hit Three People, Fled The Scene

Riverhead 23-year-old charged with leaving the scene of Flanders crash.

The following arrests were reported by the Town of Southampton Police Department for the week of Dec. 13. A criminal charge is an accusation. Defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.ย

  • Southampton Town police arrested Amanda DaCosta, 23, of Riverhead, after she allegedly struck three pedestrians and a house and then fled the scene on Jan. 8. According to police, DaCosta was driving a 2002 Hyundai Elantra on Riverside Avenue in Flanders shortly after midnight when she struck the three victims and the house. Thatโ€™s when police said she left the accident without exchanging any information. Police caught up with DaCosta on Old Westhampton Road in Northampton about four hours later and arrested her. She was charged with leaving the scene of an accident that caused personal physical injury, a misdemeanor.
